March Update
A little writerly advice . . . and a whole lot of traveling!
Hello, Everyone!
I’ve been home for more than a week, but I’m still channeling my internal royal behindness . . . I AM making progress, and this newsletter is good evidence of that!
In all fairness, we’d been away for nearly a month and not just living somewhere else while we did our normal daily stuff. We were actively traveling. First, it was a family trip out to Sedona for a week. (Super fun — see my post on that below.) Then we were home for a few days to regroup before heading to South America. We spent our first week in Bolivia and Peru, checking in on children’s homes we work with through our charity The World Orphan Fund. We surveyed two other homes that need assistance near Lima, and we will likely work with them in the future.
The two homes we’ve worked with for a while (Casa de Los Ninos in Cochabamba, Bolivia and Casa Hogar Juan Pablo in Lima, Peru) have a wonderful model of providing family residences on their campuses instead of dormitory-style living for the children. This is a much healthier alternative, but it isn’t always possible at every home given the personnel resources it takes to sustain that model. It was a joy to visit both homes! (And hang out with some fellow Wisconsinites at Juan Pablo in Lima!)
Here’s a map of the South America travel . . . 13 flights in two weeks, and not a single one was canceled. (That kind of makes up for the mad scramble we had to do when our flight to Phoenix for 6 people plus two babies was canceled last minute in January.)
Watch for my long post this coming week about the Galapagos Island cruise we took. Simply fabulous!!
WRITERLY / PUBLISHING CONTENT
AUTHOR PRO - Subscription-only content coming soon
I’ve been working toward an end-of-the-month launch of my paid subscription portion of Substack called Author Pro. I have previously had my courses, tutorials, and guides over on a paid platform called Podia. Some of these offerings were free and some of them were paid webinars / courses. I’ve decided to move all of that more advanced content to a subscription-only Substack. Watch for more on that as the month progresses!
And when I switched over to Substack, I left many of my blog posts behind. I’m gradually updating these and reintroducing topics from my archives. Here are two such posts on writerly / publishing topics … one for the beginning writer and one for someone moving down the path to publication. (Plus a link to the latest Writers’ Forum if you missed it!)
And if you missed it, here’s the February Writers’ Forum:

Great tips for Writers! and it's nice to have you back. Can't wait to read about the Galapagos!
So great that you are able to travel and help people all over the world. A beautiful and meaningful life!
